The Plumbing Technician is responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining plumbing systems for restroom trailers, office trailers, and temporary utility systems. Works independently in the field to ensure water and waste systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in full working order. Troubleshot mechanical and plumbing issues while providing professional service to customers and job-site personnel.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Works closely with Operations Supervisor, Dispatch, and Market Leader / GM, depending on location size.
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Reviews day-to-day job assignments and ensures all work activities are safety-focused and customer needs are met. Exact responsibilities vary by day, season, and location and include, but are not limited to:
- Install plumbing connections for restroom and office trailers.
- Service pumps, tanks, hoses, and plumbing lines.
- Fill and manage 100-gallon freshwater tanks and plumb them to all fixtures.
- Run and connect lines to wastewater tanks.
- Build, install, maintain, and service fresh and wastewater tank systems.
- Troubleshoot flow issues, leaks, blockages, and mechanical failures.
- Crawl under trailers to complete installations and repairs.
- Ensure all systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in working order.
- Conduct inspections to verify system performance and safety compliance.
- Interact directly with customers and job-site personnel, demonstrating professionalism.
- Work independently in the field with minimal supervision.
- Maintain communication with dispatch and leadership regarding job progress, issues, or supply needs.
- Adhere to company safety policies and proper PPE use at all times.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in clean working conditions.
- Complete service documentation, reports, and job logs as required.
- Assist in general yard or support duties when field work is completed, as needed.
- Reliable and able to work extended daily hours as business needs require.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to build, install, and maintain tank and plumbing systems independently.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and self-starter mentality.
- Ability to lift, carry, and hold up to 100 lbs. repeatedly.
- Able to walk, crouch, kneel, and crawl underneath trailers.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Customer-facing professionalism.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Proven plumbing experience required.
- Experience with restroom trailers, office trailers, or temporary utilities preferred.
- Irrigation or pump system experience is a plus.
- Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting skills.
- Must pass a DOT physical and obtain/maintain a medical card.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Must be able to crawl, crouch, kneel, and work underneath trailers.
- Must be able to operate tools and equipment for extended periods.
- Able to handle strong odors and field conditions.
