Roadrunner Transportation (72,360 Jobs)
Roadrunner Transportation Systems was founded in 1984 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 2005, Roadrunner Transportation merged with Dawes Transport as a trucking and transportation company in Downers Grove, Illinois. Today the trucking company handles less than truckload (LTL) freight, refrigerated temperature-controlled freight, and intermodal freight loads. The company has multiple truck driving divisions, including Roadrunner Intermodal, Roadrunner Freight (LTL), and Roadrunner Temperature Controlled. Roadrunner Intermodal offers intermodal freight hauling services for railroads and seaports. The Roadrunner Freight trucking division entails on-time LTL freight hauling services, while the Roadrunner Temperature Controlled division handles the time-definite delivery of fresh produce, meat, frozen foods, and pharmaceuticals.
Roadrunner Transportation has several other divisions that include specialized freight shipping through D&E Transport, Stagecoach Cartage & Distribution, LLC, and ISI Logistics; domestic, international, and distribution logistics through Ascent Global Logistics; and expedited ground, air charter, international airfreight, and hand carry transportation through Active-On Demand. This ensures that Roadrunner Transportation provides the most comprehensive trucking services when managing freight hauls for customers.
Drivers for any of the trucking divisions at Roadrunner Transportation Systems must have a Class A CDL to start driving for the company. Roadrunner Transportation hires truck drivers as owner-operators as well as company drivers. The company also has a lease-purchase program that allows drivers to become owner-operators after starting as a company driver.
