Nikola Sets Up Public Demo Day for Test Driving Electric Big Rigs
Published
April 15th, 2019

If you are like one of the tens of thousands of truckers nationwide wondering when you’ll be driving an electric truck, we have an answer. On April 17, 2019, truck drivers will finally get a chance to climb behind the seat of one of those super futuristic big rigs. Nikola will host Nikola World 2019, aka Public Demo Day. This will be where the truck manufacturer will demonstrate the awe-inspiring e-power of the Nikola Two and the Nikola NZT OHV. Find out what all this means and how you can get a ticket of entry to the big event to see the Nikola trucks.

Nikola Two

For those of you following the electric truck news, the Nikola brand has come out with a number of prototypes and soon to be in production e-trucks. These include Nikola One and Nikola Two. Both of these tractors feature a sleeper compartment with the Nikola Two holding a full-size mattress. In addition, the Nikola One and Two both have the same torque, horsepower, and mile range.

The only notable difference between these two trucks is that Nikola One is longer from nose to the back of the cab compared to Nikola Two. Other differences have not been made clear at this time. Perhaps the Nikola Company is anticipating the release of these differences on Public Demo Day. If you are one of the lucky attendees, you’ll be the first to know either way.

Nikola NZT OHV

To start with, the Nikola NZT OHV is not a truck. This is an all-electric side-by-side or utility vehicle. The one by Nikola is billed as, “The most advanced electric OHV in the world.” Along with having enough charge to last for up to 150 miles, the Nikola NZT OHV has 590 horsepower and 775 ft. lbs. of torque. It’s a super fun toy and something you can save your trucking paychecks for when it is released. Then again, you could just attend Public Demo Day and take advantage of the opportunity to test drive it then.

Public Demo Day Logistics

To attend the Public Demo Day at Nikola World 2019, you need to be able to get to Scottsdale, Arizona for the day of on April 17, from 1 to 6 pm. The event will also be hosted live via streaming, so if you don’t make it to Scottsdale, you’ll still get to see what’s happening in real time. To RSVP to Public Demo Day, you need to send your contact information including your email to the administration.

In addition, each person in your party, even if you are a team driver, needs to request an individual reservation. This also applies to husband/wife duos or company drivers going to the event together. You must also be at least 12 years old to attend the event in person. There is no cost to participate in Public Demo Day. Note that if you just show up on the day of the event, you will be turned away without a ticket via an RSVP.
