What You Need to Know:
- Montgomery Transport has opened a new dedicated freight division.
- Drivers get home more often.
- Employees can now expect better benefits, including a new incentive program.
Truckers like to get home, that’s no secret. But sometimes the ‘one week on, two days off’ lifestyle just isn’t enough; neither are birthdays, major holidays, and PTO. Some drivers need to get home every night. For new parents, a week or more on the road can bring a lot of unnecessary stress. For caregivers, a few hundred miles’ away can mean the death of a loved one. Often, drivers are forced to choose between home time and pay, trading income for much needed work-life balance.
But there are ways to make good money driving closer to home. On June 5, 2018, Montgomery Transport, LLC, a flatbed company based in Birmingham, AL, announced their newest division, MT Dedicated.
MT Dedicated Gets Drivers Home More
The new fleet, designed to help professional truck drivers get home more, is one of many quality of life improvements the company has added this year. Montgomery Transport hopes it will bring more top-performing drivers to the Magic City.
MT Dedicated will focus on hauling customer-specific freight in a defined, regional area. The new fleet will bring much need service to high-value customers and better home time and wages to professional drivers. With dedicated routes come more predictable schedules, meaning drivers can better plan their weeks and get home when it counts.
Better Benefits for All
The new fleet is only the most recent change Montgomery Transport has made this year. On top of better home time, drivers can now enjoy better cents per mile, new bonus opportunities, and an all-new incentive program called the Road to Success Program.
“I am committed to continue to put forth new initiatives to better our employees, their families, and our customers,” says Rollins Montgomery, CEO of Montgomery Transport, LLC.
“We have recently made several improvements to our professional drivers’ pay package and benefits, began a lease-purchase program, and created a huge referral incentive for our drivers.” he says. “These are in an effort to help us grow the fleet through creative strategies which provide an opportunity for our drivers to improve their take-home pay.”
In March, Montgomery Transport announced a 1 CPM raise for all miles, bringing the average salary to about $62,000 per year. (The highest-paid drivers bring home about $71,500 per year.) That same month, they implemented a $5,000 loyalty and experience bonus, guaranteed minimum weekly pay, oversized load pay, short haul pay, detention pay, and an improved new truck driver pay scale. The biggest change, however, is their Road to Success incentive program, which offers about $10,000 in bonuses per year.
