Reefer trucking is commonly used for “refrigerated,” and refers to trailers that are specially built with insulated walls and a temperature controlled refrigeration unit. The bulk of transported goods are grocery items and perishable foods that are driven to grocery stores, retail stores, and convenience markets. The hiring companies generally prefer some over-the-road (OTR) experience, but will train if needed. Drivers are also expected to participate of the loading and unloading of the freight and it’s recommended that the driver can carry at least 50 pounds.
